Living Foods FAQ

What are Living Foods?
Plant-based, enzymatically active, raw (not heated above 46°C - 115°F) vegetables, fruits, sprouted nuts, seeds and some grains. These types of food maintain their natural water, mineral, vitamin and nutrient content.

What is the difference between raw and living foods?
They are very similar, except that Living Foods are enzymatically active (meaning the enzymes are still alive.) For example, raw nuts have enzyme inhibitors — they are raw but not "living" per se — so we need to soak and spout them in order for them to become Living Foods. Fruit or vegetables that have been irradiated (all non-organic produce that crosses national borders is irradiated) is technically raw but not living since all the enzymes have been destroyed by radiation.

What are the benefits of Living Foods?

  1. Ease and Convenience
After a period of learning and adjustment you'll be surprized how easy Living Foods are! It's easier than many other ways of eating and you don't even need to know how to cook. It takes only minutes to make a delicious meal and cleanup is minimal. Any bachelor, busy mom or retired person can appreciate this!

  2. Superior Nutrition
Living Foods are complete packages. They have everything the body needs: glucose for energy, amino-acids for building and repairing tissues, enzymes to catalyze body functions, minerals for electrical transmission and building components, fatty acids for membrane construction and living water as the medium for all reactions.

  3. Enzymes
Only Living Foods contain enzymes. They are heat-sensitive and are lost whenever heat above 46°C or 115°F is applied. When foods that are devoid of enzymes are ingested, the body has to use its own supply of enzymes and energy for assimilation and digestion. Over time, our enzyme reserves are depleted and digestion is compromised. This leads to premature aging and disease.

  4. Unaltered Phytonutrients, Minerals and Vitamins
Phytonutrients (antioxidants), ionic minerals and vitamins found in raw fruit and vegetables are also heat sensitive. When heat above 46°C or 115°F is applied, most of the micronutrients are lost.

  5. Water
The water in fresh fruits and vegetables is structured by nature and alive with electrical charge. It helps us stay hydrated and creates a sense of satiation.

  6. Fiber
Raw fruits and vegetables are full of fiber that helps us sweep our gastrointestinal tract and create perilastatic contractions and movement. Colon health is very important for your overall health; if there is not enough fiber in your diet, bad bacteria and various digestive problems are more likely.

  7. Supports Acid-Alkaline Balance
Living Foods support alkaline balance. Maintaing a slightly alkaline bodily environment leads to excellent health and vitality. Overly acidic environments allow acute or chronic diseases to thrive. Cancer, acid reflux, atrthrisis, psoriasis, fatigue, depression, digestive problems, gout, obesity and irritability (to name a few) are all directly related to over-acidity. Most of population in North America is overly acidic due to high levels of stress, medical and recreational drugs, preservatives, chemicals, toxins, syntactic vitamins over consumption of soda, sugar, coffee, processed foods, dairy and wheat and other acid-forming foods. Over the time, this type of lifestyle draws alkalizing minerals out of our bones and connective tissues. The good news is that most Living Foods have and alkalizing effect. Together with of alkaline water, the body can eventually switch back to its optimal pH level and function optimally.

  8. Detoxifcation and Bioavailability
Living Foods are also extremly detoxifying due to their high nutrient, water, fiber and enzyme content. That is why it is suggested to switch to the more Living Foods gradually. This foods will help you body move all the unwanted undigested junk out of the cells and create better celluar communication. This usually results in better digestion, assimilation, absorption, less hunger and less food consumption. Over time, most digestive tract issues self correct, and this means that the body will be less likely to hold on to fat. Most people experience fat loss and gain of lean mass when Living Foods are introduced to the diet.

  9. Environmental Impact
Living Foods are intrincially environementally friendly because agro-industrial chemicals and farming practices are not accepted. Only organic, non-GMO, non-irradiated, pesticide-free foods are considered "Living." Living Foods practitioners support sustainable local farming and small-scale organic growers abroad.

Do I have to become vegan and 100% raw?
No — you may choose whether or not to consume dairy and animal products. I recommend a daily balance such as 80% Living Foods and 20% cooked. You can still enjoy some of the cooked meals or animal proteins just be sure to choose meals that are the least processed (steamed or baked) and if you do eat meat/fish only buy organic or wild. Commercial animal products are full of toxins and hormones (see the China Study for the harsh truth). Whenever you eat cooked food, always supplementdigestive plant enzymes to aid assimilation and absorption.
